Managing References

An introduction to reference management programs and software.

Introduction

RefWorks is a web-based bibliographic management program that allows users to create a  personal database of references and citations and to share these with colleagues. It can be used in conjunction with Microsoft Word on Windows and Mac to insert these references into documents and generate bibliographies.  A number of standard referencing formats are available.

Setting up an account (University of Melbourne users only)

The University has a subscription to RefWorks. Students and staff can access it both on and off campus. To access RefWorks, you have to be authenticated as a University of Melbourne user.

First time users will need to set up an individual account in RefWorks. Your personal account can then be accessed anywhere with web access – home, university, and whilst travelling.
