Guide for students studying Music Performance at the University of Melbourne.

Journals & Databases

Journals are continuous publications issued regularly (daily, weekly, monthly, or quarterly).  They include magazines, scholarly peer-reviewed journals, and newspapers. They may be available in one or more of print, electronic, and microform formats.

Print copies of journals are best searched by journal title in the Library Catalogue for shelf locations.

Journal articles can be found by searching individual databases or journals online; many can also be found through Discovery; all with links to fulltext if available. Some subject areas also have print indexes. Honours and graduate students, and staff, may request document delivery through interlibrary loan.

covers copies and preprints of many scholarly articles. Some are freely available fulltext, while some others are available to University of Melbourne staff and students.

To gain access to more fulltext documents:

  • click on Settings
  • select 'Scholar Preferences'
