The majority of spatial Open Commons license data is available for all of Victoria. Please look at the preceding two pages. The data on this page is arbatery material offered for small areas within the Greater Melbourne & Geelong areas.
It provides a comprehensive GIS dataset of the existing open space network throughout the Melbourne metropolitan area. This dataset builds upon the important work completed through the Victorian Environmental Assessment Council’s (VEAC) Metropolitan Melbourne Investigation (2011), as well as GIS data provided to the VPA by Melbourne’s 32 metropolitan councils and a variety of other agencies.
The dataset provides conservation areas, within the Melbourne West, Sunbury (Melbourne North-west), Melbourne North and Melbourne South-east growth areas between the 2005 and 2010 Urban Growth Boundary.
The dataset is the basis of "biodiversity areas" identified in the Melbourne Growth Corridor Plans (May 2012) and the Biodiversity Conservation Strategy for the Melbourne Growth Corridors to be released in 2013, and prepared as a requirement of the Melbourne Strategic Assessment under the Commonwealth EPBC Act.
This dataset contains line features representing a boundary which indicates the long-term limits of urban development in metropolitan Melbourne. It only affects 17 LGAs within the Melbourne metropolitan area.
