This guide is an overview of Australian legal resources, designed for Japanese speaking students studying at the University of Melbourne.

Open Access Legislation

All Australian jurisdictions provide free access to legislation through government websites. These are the official websites and are where you will find the most up-to-date compilations of legislation.

Other free websites such as AustLII, and some commerical sites like Timebase contain legislation, these are not the official versions and they are not necessarily the most up-to-date compilations of acts.  For the official authoratitive versions, we recommend using the government websites listed here
