Finding eBooks

  • Use a keyword search to find books and ebooks on a topic. Once you have completed a search you can limit your search to a specific collection such as, Giblin Eunson Library or format such as online books (login with your username and password to view e-books)
  • Only want an eBook? Choose the option 'eBooks'  in the catalogue. To read an e-book, open the catalogue record and then select the link: Connect to electronic book.

Keyword search tips

 


To find books on a particular subject, use a keyword search on the library catalogue. Keyword searching often retrieves a large number of results. You might need to narrow your search by adding further keywords.

 

When searching by keyword use distinctive words that describe the information you are looking for. For example, to search for children's fiction on a specific topic, enter the main keyword(s) together with the words"juvenile fiction"  eg


Librarians use a set of standardized subject headings to classify material. Use the subject heading links to find more material that shares the same description.

Reference books can be an excellent starting point for locating quick, background information and developing an understanding of a topic.

The print Reference Collection is located on Ground Level  of the Giblin Eunson Library. Lots of online reference sources are available via the library catalogue and Discovery.
