The Chinese Collection

The Chinese collection of the East Asian Collection is a leading Chinese research collection in Australia. The main areas of strength are anthropology and ethnic groups, architecture, planning and building, archaeology, Buddhism and Taoism, Chinese medicine, Chinese literature, Chinese language and literature, custom and culture, economic conditions, history of China (from the Ming dynasty onwards),  local gazetteers, politics and government, reference and bibliographies.

Of particular interest to researchers is the strong collection of Chinese microforms and Chinese electronic databases. Special collections include the Thomas Chong Collection, the R. F. Price Collection and Harry Simon Collection.
