The Australian Library and Information Association (ALIA) provides accreditation for library studies and information management courses  in Australia. Details of accredited courses and schools around the country can be found through their website.

If you have completed your formal qualification the ALIA professional development scheme is a great way to keep up to date with changes in the profession.


There are many library themed blogs available. A great place to start looking for Australian library blogs is Libraries Interact's listing of Australian Library Blogs. There are a number of other lists of library blogs out there another good source that is not restricted to Australian content is 'top 25' Librarian blogs which has been put together by Online Education Database.

You might also be interested in keeping up to date with the latest national library news and conferences through the ALIA blog.

Closer to home The University of Melbourne Library publishes a blog for library staff called Library Intelligencer.

There are a wide variety of professional associations for librarians. Some of these are International in focus and some are specific to a country or region.
