Want to streamline your workflows? Install Lean Library

  • Install the Lean library browser extension on your desktop or laptop. This allows you to access articles behind paywalls as an UoM user, without visiting the library website. See
  • Lean Library replaces the Find it @Unimelb web browser bookmarklet
  • Lean Library can be installed in Chrome, Firefox or Safari
  • iPad and tablet users should access resource via the library sites (databases or library catalogue)

Our authentication system has changed from EZproxy to Open Athens

You may notice some changes including one off privacy declaration requests and one off Open Athens login screens.

  • Your access to e-resources will be more seamless if you install the the Lean Library browser extension, as this saves your OpenAthens credentials

Why are we using Open Athens?

The change to Open Athens offers improved and more secure access to resources.

With the introduction of this system you will now be able to use your UniMelb login to access database features such as saving searches for future use, saving articles to folders, marking and exporting results (previously you needed to create a personal account to use these features).
