PubMed is a database comprising more than 28 million citations for biomedical literature from Medline, life science journals and online books. The PubMed database is provided by the US National Library of Medicine. A distinctive feature of MEDLINE is that the records are indexed with NLM Medical Subject Headings (MeSH®).
Accessing PubMed
PubMed is free to search on the Internet. To link to full-text articles from the University of Melbourne Library, use this link to access PubMed.
Click on ‘Connect to PubMed’ and enter your student username and password.
Types of Articles
PubMed results include a variety of publication / article types. You can select specific article types from the left-hand panel on the results page (See the Refining Results slideshow on the Sample PubMed Searches page).
Click on Customize under Article types to view options.
