Sources for Conferences

About conference papers

Conference proceedings and papers document the output of a conference (or syposium, congress or forum).

  • Conference papers are the written record of the contributions delivered  at a conference.  These are often republished as journal articles.
  • Conference proceedings are the collection of papers or abstracts delivered at the conference, usually made availalble after the conference.

Proceedings or papers from a conference can be difficult to locate. Smaller proceedings may be poorly indexed. They can be distributed electronically or in print formats as voulmes, a book or as a series.  It  is also common for an abstract or summary to be published rather than the complete paper.
