New Students' Library Guide

A guide with everything you need to start using Library's services and resources at the University of Melbourne.

Explore our branches

We have 11 branch libraries that each specialise in different subject areas. You can visit any library to browse the collections or find a place to study. Think of the library as your office - it's a place set up for you to study, access resources and connect with specialist help.

Opening hours vary throughout the year. Some libraries also have After Hours Study Zones which you can access with your student or staff card.

Find a seat

Check how busy your favourite library space is by checking the Find a Study Space page.

This page shows real time information about library capacity per floor and includes floor plans and descriptions of the spaces. Note, some branches get extremely busy during peak times.

Book a group study room or other resource

Book a project room for group work, recording pod, or computer in our branches.

The Find a Study Space page lists the bookable resources in each branch, with a link to Bookit! for making reservations.
