UNCITRAL

United Nations Commission on International Trade Law (UNITRAL) is the core legal body of the United Nations system in the field of international trade law.

UNCITRAL's business is the modernisation and harmonisation of rules on international business and commercial transactions. These include:

  • Conventions, model laws and rules which are acceptable worldwide
  • Legal and legislative guides and recommendations 
  • Updated information on case law and enactments of uniform commercial law
  • Technical assistance in law reform projects

  • Texts and Status  - here you will find Conventions, Model Laws, Contractual Texts and Explanatory Texts on nine topics.
  • Texts of Other Organisations Endorsed by UNCITRAL
  • Case Law on UNCITRAL Texts (CLOUT) - a system for collecting and disseminating information on national court decisions and arbitral awards relating to the Conventions and Model Laws that have emanated from the work of the Commission.
  • Library and Research Resources - including:
    • the UNCITRAL Yearbook (1968 to current), which reproduces all substantive documents prepared by the secretariat each year relating to the work of UNCITRAL and its working groups,
    • a bibliography of scholarly writings on UNCITRAL texts 
    • a list of UNCITRAL texts and links to the full text publications - these are arranged in reverse date order and include Model Laws, Digests of Cases, Guides and Conference Proceedings.
