Researcher profiles and identifiers

What is a Dimensions author profile?

Dimensions links scholarly works and citations with grants, patents, clinical trials, datasets, and policy papers. Dimensions researcher profiles are automatically created when records are ingested into the system and include any scholarly works, patents, grants, or clinical trials that a researcher is connected to (policy documents are not included). The researcher's profile page includes other details, such as affiliation, and links to external pages, such as their ORCiD record.

Researchers may have several profiles, if they have moved between institutions. The current affiliation of the researcher is displayed alongside the name in the researcher filter. If there are several versions of the same name in the list, select the affiliation that matches your institution, or select all applicable profiles and search simultaneously. For guidance on searching for researchers, see the Dimensions guide here.

Things to consider

You may wish to consider:

  • Registering with your UniMelb email, and signing in to your account in Dimensions to get fuller analytics and link your profile with ORCID.
  • Linking your ORCID to your Dimensions profile to enable the transfer or records to your ORCID record.
  • Ensuring your ORCID profile is up to date and public, which will in turn ensure that your Dimensions profile is as accurate as possible.
