Finding Journal Articles

The library subscribes to many databases. These databases index journal articles, book chapters, conferences and theses. In many cases, journal articles are electronically available in full text, while some may be in hard copy format only (check the catalogue under the Journal's title).

Below is a list of databases which will be useful for searching for topics associated with this subject. Access these databases via A-Z eJournals and Databases or by clicking the links below. You will generally need to login with your unimelb login and password as most of the Library subscriptions are only accessible by students and staff members.

Taiwan Electronic Periodical Services
TEPS (Taiwan Electronic Periodical Services) is a collection of over 900 full-text journals from Taiwan. The Library has access to TEPS - Humanities and TEPS - Social Sciences collections.

China Academic Journals full-text database
CAJ is the most comprehensive, full-text database of Chinese journals in the world. It contains more than 9,000 journals starting from 1915. The journals form 10 subject collections: (A) Mathematics/ Physics/ Mechanics/ Astronomy -- (B) Chemistry/ Metallurgy/ Environment/ Mine Industry -- (C) Architecture/ Energy/ Traffic/ Electromechanics, etc -- (D) Agriculture -- (E) Medicine & Public Health -- (F) Literature/ History/ Philosophy -- (G) Politics/ Military Affairs/ Law -- (H) Education & Social Sciences -- (I) Electronic Technology & Information Science -- (J) Economics & Management.
Century Journals Project
The Century Journals Project selects the most important academic journals published in China and digitizes all issues since their very first issue up till 1993 in an effort to expand the China Academic Journals Full-text Database. The earliest journal dates back to 1887.

Bibliography of Asian Studies
Bibliography of Asian Studies (BAS) is a comprehensive western-language resource for research on Asia. BAS provides indexing coverage of many important journals, particularly ones published in Asia, which are not indexed anywhere else. It also contains citations to Western-language chapters in edited volumes, conference proceedings, anthologies, Festschriften, and more. BAS covers all subjects (especially in the humanities and the social sciences) pertaining to East, Southeast, and South Asia published worldwide from 1971 to the present.
Discovery (EBSCO)
Discovery is a major library tool. Discovery combines the information from the library catalogue, the digital repository and many databases into a single database. However, for a comprehensive search it is recommended that you also search individual databases
JSTOR
JSTOR is a digital library of thousands of academic journals, books, and primary sources from a wide range academic publishers and university presses. Titles span across disciplines, including core areas such as business & economics, social sciences, education, history, language & literature and science. Current journals are linked and cross-searchable with archival journals and ebooks on JSTOR, helping patrons discover, use, and build upon a constantly expanding range of academic content.
ProQuest Central
Covering more than 160 subjects areas, ProQuest Central is the largest aggregated database of periodical content. This award-winning online reference resource features a highly-respected, diversified mix of content including scholarly journals, trade publications, magazines, books, newspapers, reports and videos.
Cambridge Core Journals
Cambridge University Press currently publishes over 300 peer-reviewed academic journals for the global market. Cambridge Journals Online contain the latest research from a broad sweep of subject areas. From September 2016 titles are available via the Cambridge Core platform alongside Cambridge Books, Histories and Companions.
Taylor & Francis Journals
Taylor & Francis Journals content spans all areas of Humanities, Social Sciences, Science and Technology and contains over 1600 journal titles, aimed at supporting researchers, scholarly societies, universities and libraries worldwide.
Oxford Journals
Oxford Journals includes current content from all subject areas, the Oxford Journal Archive content going back 140 years and the ‘Oxford Open’ initiative which includes over 100 open access journals.
SAGE Journals
The SAGE Journals collection includes hundreds of journals spanning the Humanities, Social Sciences, and Science, Technology, and Medicine. Many of the journals are published on behalf of learned societies and institutions.
Academic Search Complete (EBSCO)
Academic Search™ Complete is a multidisciplinary full-text database, providing access to more than 8,600 full-text periodicals, including more than 7,500 peer-reviewed journals. In addition to full text it offers indexing and abstracts for more than 12,500 journals and a total of more than 13,200 publications including monographs, reports, conference proceedings, etc.
Cambridge Companions Online
Cambridge Companions Online offers subject or theme based collections of content within a richly functional, fully cross-searchable online environment. This collection of over 500 titles covers literature, philosophy, religion, classics, cultural studies, and music. The content is updated continuously. From September 2016 titles are available via the Cambridge Core platform alongside Cambridge Books, Histories and Journals.
ScienceDirect Journals (Elsevier)
ScienceDirect is Elsevier's leading platform of peer-reviewed scholarly literature. It is a large database of scientific, technical, and medical research with a wide variety of features and content.
SpringerLink Journals (Springer)
SpringerLink contains journals, books, series, protocols and reference works all aimed at supporting the research and academic community across all disciplines. The Palgrave journal collections were integrated into the Springer journal collections during 2016.
