Before searching think about:

  • Which organisation(s) might produce relevant statistics in your area of interest? E.g. UN for worldwide data
  • Where might these statistics be published? Websites, reports, yearbooks, newspapers, journals?
  • What time frame is covered and when was it published? Do you want historical or current information?
  • What geographical region is covered the statistics? Think of geographical boundaries whether physical or political (think countries, states, local government, cities., electoral divisions)
