The reference style used at Melbourne Law School is the Australian Guide to Legal Citation 4th edition (AGLC4), published by the Melbourne University Law Review (MULR) in collaboration with the Melbourne Journal of International Law.
This style is a footnoting style. The format of the footnote must adhere to the rules in the guide, correctly attributing the ideas in your essay to their correct source. Using introductory signals within footnotes can help with this. See Rule 1.2 - Introductory Signals for Citations.
Zotero is a useful tool for legal research as it is designed to collect, store, share, manage and cite sources according to the AGLC4 style. The Zotero browser add-on enables researchers to quickly add items from databases to their Zotero library. PDFs can also be stored in the library. Once you import items into your Zotero library you can tag, annotate and make notes about them. These items, including your notes, are searchable.
