Working with literature: a guide for Education doctoral students

Managing Data @Melbourne

Is the University's research data management training program. It consists of six short modules, which outline the fundamental practices of good data management. Develop the skills you need to draft your research data management plan.

Creating a Data Management Plan

DMP Melbourne is an online service that walks you through creating a DMP by answering a series of questions about your research project. You will be asked to complete different sections of DMP Melbourne as we go through the other modules. DMP Melbourne allows you to create, store and revise your data management plans online. You can export your plans in a variety of formats and at any stage of their completion. You may want to work completely online; alternatively, you could download the plan as a Word document (.docx) to work through offline. We recommend that graduate researchers share their data management plans with their supervisor(s).

Melbourne Figshare

Melbourne Figshare is the university data repository where you can store, manage, publish and share research data, supplementary research materials and Non-Traditional Research Outputs (NTRO's).

You can store your data, code, software, research notes, media, reports and workflows here.

Firstly, ensure you understand what sensitive data should never be stored here.

To understand whether your materials are suitable for storage in Melbourne Figshare, it is recommended that you use the University's Research Data Classification Tool to compare your data requirements against the Figshare sensitive data classification.

More information is on the library's Melbourne Figshare page.
