Research Skills for Fine Arts and Music Students

Can't find something? University staff and students have access to millions of resources through the library and our partner institutions, but what happens when you can't find something? Here are a few ways to access physical and online resources that go beyond our library collections.

Items missing from the shelf

Occasionally library materials will be mis-shelved or otherwise go missing. There are a few things you can do to find them or locate another copy via the CAVAL reciprocal borrowing schemes.

Inter-library Loans

Once you have exhausted all the options for locating resources in our collections, staff and students may submit an Inter-library Loan request for physical items, as well as article and chapter scans. Our Resource Sharing Team will search the world on your behalf and will arrange a request for you if it is available.

Lean Library plugin

The Lean Library browser plugin gives you fast and easy access to University of Melbourne subscriptions to electronic resources. You can access journal articles, ebooks and other subscription services without having to do another search.

Google Scholar library links

Connect Google Scholar to full text content using Library Links. This enables you to directly access resources when researching off campus.
