The primary aim of DOAB is to increase discoverability of Open Access books. The books included in DOAB are from academic publishers and have been subjected to independent and external peer review prior to publication.

Users can rate and review books on Google Books and these ratings and reviews could be used as impact metrics. In addition, you can use Google Books to search for citations to other publications within the full text of digitised books. Research suggests that Google Book citations correlate significantly and positively with Web of Science citations.
