The Scholarly Communications team can provide advice and support to the editors of scholar-led open access journals published at the University of Melbourne. In addition to DOI minting for journal content, the team can offer advice around:

Scholar-led Journals at the University of Melbourne

A Digital Object Identifier (DOI) is a unique identifier that is assigned to e.g. a journal article, book chapter, data set, or report, and provides a persistent link to its location on the Internet. 

• Research outputs deposited into Melbourne Figshare, the University's data repository, will automatically be assigned DOI. You can also reserve a DOI before publication through Figshare.
• Editors of scholar-led journals published by the University can email the Scholarly Communications team to arrange DOI minting through our CrossRef registration. 

An International Standard Book Number (ISBN) is a unique code for the identification of books, and other published material, which is used whenever information on books needs to be recorded or communicated. Individual staff or departments can apply for numbers when they produce a university publication.
