Architecture Theses
The Thesis Collection at the Architecture & Planning Library incorporates over 3000 items dating from the 1940s to the present.
The collection includes theses on a large number of Victorian architects, buildings and localities and constitutes an important research resource on the history of architecture and building in Victoria. Many of the earlier theses incorporate black & white illustrations, some of unique historical interest where buildings have been demolished or landscapes altered. The majority are theses from University of Melbourne students at 4th year, with a small number at Masters and PhD level. This material is held in closed access storage, but is available for viewing within the Architecture, Building & Planning Library following the completion of a stack request slip, available from the service desk.
University of Melbourne students and staff, together with external users of the library, are welcome to access the material. A maximum number of three theses may be requested for individual users at the one time.

Finding theses using the library catalogue
By using the library's catalogue, you can locate theses in your subject area by using a Keyword search. Examples are forestry and thesis. exercise and thesis, low back pain and thesis.
If there is a digital thesis available, there will be a link to it in the catalogue record that says "Connect to thesis".
Digital theses can also be found through a Subject Search in the catalogue under "Internet access to thesis" Use the "Limit this search" option to add another term.
Finding Australian Theses
The Australasian Digital Theses Program database ceased operation at the end of 2010. The content of that database will be accessible from the National Library of Australia’s Trove service.

Finding theses by institution on Trove
Use Trove to find theses by university.To limit results by institution, go to Search the ADT - Member Institution Views
The Trove links populate the search box with the code for the university concerned e.g. nuc:VMOU (for Monash University). Type your search term(s) after this code, rather than overwriting it, to limit your results to the university concerned. If you do not find the thesis you are looking for, try unticking the "Available online" box - it may not yet be digitised.
