Making Legislation

The New Zealand legislature does not have a bicameral structure - the Upper House was abolished in 1950, leaving only the Lower House, the House of Representatives. New Zealand Parliament website.

Legislation is drafted and published by the Parliamentary Counsel's Office.

Bills Bills are available on NZ Legislation 2008 to current. Some older Bills are available on the NZ Parliament website, but coverage is not complete.
Hansard Hansard is available on the NZ Parliament website for 2003 to current.

Exact replicas of New Zealand acts as made are available on NZLII (1841-2007) and NZ Legislation (2007-present).

Current Acts

All Acts currently in force (including all amendments to date) are available on NZ Legislation.

Repealed Acts

Repealed Acts from 1828 to the present are available on NZLII

Historical Acts

The 1908 Consolidation of all NZ Acts in force (including amendments up to 1908) is available on NZLII

Regulations as Made

Regulations as made are available on NZ Legislation (2007-present).

Current Regulations

Virtually all current regulations (including all amendments to date) are available on NZ Legislation.

Repealed Regulations

Repealed Regulations from 1916 to the present are available on NZLII
