Keyword search tips - an example

Desired result - Resources on/for planning science lessons for primary aged students.

Topic keywords brainstorm - Primary, science, lessons, lesson planning, elementary

Keywords entered into the search box: primary science lesson*

Strategy explained...

This search will retrieve results with all 3 terms

Adding an asterisk to the end of the word 'lesson' will truncate or extend the search results and find the terms lessons or lesson.

Narrowing the search - Too many results?

  • Try sorting your results by the most recent date of publication
  • Add more keywords from the topic brainstorm eg. primary science lesson*planning

Find more on the same subject

Look within the catalogue record of the first relevant item you find. Scroll down the page to the subject heading fields.

Click on a relevant subject heading link e.g. Science -- Study and teaching (Primary). This will reveal more resources that have been classified using the same heading.
