Referencing is an important requirement at University. Part of doing quality work is making sure your sources are properly referenced.

Re:cite is the University's online hub for referencing resources and provides guides for referencing styles used at the University of Melbourne, with examples to help you cite and acknowledge sources.

You'll also find handy tools like citation generators or reference management software, plus links to Academic Skills resources on incorporating sources into your writing and understanding plagiarism.

Which referencing style do I use?

Your lecturer or tutor will specify which style you are required to use in your assignments. Check your subject guide or assignment instructions. If you're not sure, ask your lecturer or tutor.
