Introduction

This is a guide to Victorian map resources that concentrates on the highly authoritative resources available from the Victorian Department of Sustainability and Environment, and the Victorian Department of Primary Industries.

For further assistance please contact the Map collections staff or visit us on the 4th floor of the Eastern Resource Centre (ERC) Library.

Key repositories of Victorian maps

  • Land Channel
    Victorian Government land and property information and services about land and property anywhere in Victoria. Formerly Office of the Surveyor General (Victorian Government).
  • State Library of Victoria
    Australian maps, especially those covering Victoria, are the main focus of this collection, though the Library also has many maps from overseas.
  • Pubic Record Office Victoria
    Public Record Office Victoria is the archives of the State Government of Victoria. They hold records from the mid 1830s to today, and manage these records for use by the government and by the people of Victoria.
  • Melbourne Atlas 2006
    The Melbourne Atlas provides a comprehensive picture of how Melbourne is changing and the major trends that have shaped Melbourne over the last 50 years.
