Accessing resources & full-text

Install these web browser extensions and customize your settings to streamline your access and get past publisher paywalls

1. Install Lean Library

  • Install Lean library a free browser extension that helps you to login to sites the Library subscribes to. Works in Chrome, Firefox, Safari and Microsoft Edge. Highly recommended!
  • iPad and tablet users should access resource via the library sites (databases or library catalogue)

2. Install LibKey Nomad

  • LibKey Nomad is a free browser extension that adds PDF download links to publisher and researcher sites to give you easy access to papers. Works in Chrome, Firefox, Microsoft Edge, Brave and Vivaldi. Install this as well as Lean Library or as an alternative.

See More tools to streamline your library access

3. Do you want to use Google Scholar to find articles?

  • Turn on the Find it@UniMelb links in your Google Scholar search results. See the settings instructions

Our authentication system is Open Athens

In 2020 our authentication system changed from EZproxy to Open Athens this provides improved and more secure access to resources.

If you install the Lean Library browser extension you will have a more seamless experience as this saves your OpenAthens credentials

Do you have a link for a resource with ezproxy in the URL? You can fix this

If you are attempting to access a resource from a bookmarked or old link that uses an EZProxy string (.ezp.lib.unimelb.edu.au), you can create a new link with our link generator to enable you to gain access to the resource
